Final Crit Feedback

This is the action plan I came up with after reading my feedback, I found the crit really useful. I clearly had no idea about point size on my boards, so it was useful to not only see others' work, but be told it is wrong. From here I could work on the hierarchy, as with my mock-up boards, there seemed to be no hierarchy at all. For some unknown reason I used block capitals throughout all my boards, which made them difficult to read and it looked like I was shouting at the readers.
It was handy to know that it was clear what my briefs were about, because I know what my briefs were about, and after staring at the boards for a length of time it is hard to look at the boards objectively.
Also I found it handy to have a group who didn't know what my briefs were so they weren't able to fill in the gaps from previous crits.

Interim Evaluation

This evaluation helped to see where I am now, and what I need to do in terms of practice and context. My context needs much more visuals, and needs to be more evaluative - is this helpful to me, and why/why not. The depth of analysis needs to go deeper too. It is clear from this evaluation, I have quite a long way to go.

Progress Tutorial with Joe

This tutorial was very disheartening, after following the deadlines set by Amber and I, according to that timetable, I was on track, however according to other tutors I was very behind. I felt very unmotivated towards my work at this point.

Crit Feedback

I don't think I have ever dreaded a crit so much!! Dissertation week spent ill with swollen glands and no voice = no work and sleepless nights! If it wasn't for Amber's support I would have probably cried. Lucky for me my crit group acknowledged there wasn't much development from last time but they agreed to give me feedback in anyway possible.
Gutted for myself, and I have promised myself to get more sleep in order to stay well, but now I have a shed load of work to do.

The comments were of great use and have helped to inform my direction from here.
Here is my action plan for both my Practice and Context:

Mini Informal Crit

As I am coming up to both my Brief 1 and Manchester Book Fair deadline, I need to select my final pieces. I am not comfortable with the quality or content for my book for Manchester, so I will be submitting one of my Mexico prints.

Jonathan Finch and Steph Bourne both preferred:

Although Steph felt, the opacity should be adjusted so it is more opaque.

Naomi Farrar and Rob Green both preferred this one:

I am torn between the two, after a chat with Rosalind I became even more torn, with the first one, the type is even and so in terms of the image it works well, but with the second one I quite like how the word Smile stands out but in terms of hierarchy I see Smile then the rest of the text which isn't what is intended. Kim Sandford and Hazel Gage also liked the top idea better, I have decided to pick the first one.

After looking through the earlier designs for the skulls Rob commented that I shouldn't let the skulls go to waste, maybe I could use one as a tag to go with the poster?

Tutorial with Amber

This was really helpful this tutorial, Amber and I came up with a series of sensible, achievable deadlines, which meant I could really focus on one brief at a time, with a small amount of overlap. This was the main focus of the tutorial, as it was my main worry, I didn't feel able to juggle this many briefs at once, and the thought of doing so was incredibly daunting.
