Still haven't made up for the work lost yesterday, but I think it may have to wait, here's some more test idents. Mainly focussing on the dog version (the shorter duration ident) as I think I found a final in the blue sky variations yesterday:

Dog Test Animations
One of the stronger concepts I found to do with the over 60s was a dog - this could have lots of visual possibilities! I started by drawing a dog to be animated in After Effects, I have never done this kind of animation before and I have a feeling its too late in the game to try new stuff, so it may well be ditched!
'Its the concept not the finish' (as Marlon Griffin [who has directed adverts for Coca Cola and Nike!!] told me)!!

Final Motion Graphics
The following two will be my final trailers (16 seconds long), both with different beginnings, but still communicating the idea of the mystery of CCTV. The question 'Who is watching you?' is to leave the viewer wondering and curious about who might be watching them, as many people are unaware of when they are in fact on CCTV. This curiosity is designed to lead them to watch the programme.
To me these two communicate the best what the programme is about without saying this is a documentary on CCTV. I wanted to leave a sense of mystery. The abrupt ending is on purpose, almost like the tape has been cut off.
Final 1 for TV:
Final 2 for TV:
This will be my final sting, it only just fits into the guidelines set for the duration of the sting - under 7 seconds. It is short enough to get the title, day and time across, and for those who have seen the trailer will be aware of the programme topic, those who haven't may be curious (or confused). The impact noise should attract the attention of whoever isn't looking at the TV screen.
Sting (with sound) for TV:
Sting (no sound - for Digital Escalator Panel boards)
More Stings
This is a shortened version, however the text is visible at the beginning, which shouldn't happen.
I used opacity on the text here starting with 0% right at the beginning reaching 100% at the eye. A few more frames have been shaved off here, it is nearly finished I believe.
This is the same as the previous one, but I have put that static noise back in, I quite like how the static works with the animated text.
This was something new I was playing about with, creating a shatter effect. There is no sound on this version.
I found a suitable glass shatter noise here, however, the ending isn't very smooth.
This has a much smoother ending.

Test Trailers 3
Test Trailer 13:
This is with the corridor image, and the Teardrop song. The ITV logo isn't at the top of the layer palette like it should be, hence the reason it fades at the start. Lesson learnt!
Test Trailer 14:
This is how it should be.
Test Trailer 15:
I added in the date and time at the top for realism with the corridor image only I forgot to turn it off, and so it plays throughout the entire time.
Test Trailer 16:
This is how it should have looked.
Test Trailer 17:
A few friends thought the sound effects had more impact so I have resorted back to them. The sound is not in time here.
Test Trailer 18:
The sound still appears to lag a bit in this clip.

Test Trailers 2
Test Trailer 8:
I have a new 'impact' noise for this one, it sounds so much better! It would help if I had the audio in time with the animation. From freesounds.org
Test Trailer 9:
This is how it should have looked! The key is to make sure the peak of the wave form is in line with the correct point of the text transformation:
Test Trailer 10: I have used a new eye in this one, it is a photo I have taken myself - rather than the previous eye that I had taken from Google Images. However, the ripple in the eye is too early, it should be timed for when the words Eye Spy, hit the eye. Test Trailer 11: This is in time - and could well be a contender for a final trailer. Test Trailer 12: This is using the corridor image at the beginning - although as there isn't any people in it, it doesn't seem as relevant as the image with people in. However, I do like how the static works at the end with the twitchy text.

Further Test Compositions
Eye Test:
This is just experimenting with my new eye (photo of Dale's eye!) - I have timed the rippling to the single piano notes. Looks pretty cool!
Eye Test 2:
Again the eye rippling is timed to the music, with the added Eye Spy, and the 'Monday 8:00pm' also appears in time with the piano note. So far, one of my favourites.
Eye Test 3:
This is the same as above, but with a better finish.
Eye Test 4:
It appears I have forgotten to include the sound before rendering! Oops. Lesson learnt.
Eye Test 5:
I have tried to shorten the clip by only having one ripple, but now the ending is too abrupt.
Eye Test 6:
This has been condensed even further to a 9 second clip.
Eye Test 7:
The song fading out at the end is much smoother here! I seem to keep forgetting I am dealing with sound too.
Eye Test 8:
This idea is with the original static noise, played after the eye with the text.
Eye Test 9:
I have found a new impact sound... This can be heard on all speakers - I have to remember not everyone will have top quality speakers. It made me jump when I first heard it through headphones, its a very strong and sustained sound. It works much better.

Test Trailers
Reached my Vimeo limit so had to use Youtube!
Test Trailer 1:
After feeling happy with how the images interacted with each other, I placed the ITV logo on and added in the tagline 'Who's watching you?' which stalks towards the viewer in the same jittery CCTV style as the images.
Test Trailer 2:
In this idea I added in the eye from Google Images after the text, which fades in with the text Eye Spy in the pupil, it fades out and the day and time is added underneath in the same jittery effect.
Test Trailer 3:
The interaction between the words Eye Spy and the eye is different, here the eye stays on screen for longer and the words Eye Spy fade in at 100% and decrease to about 40% moving towards the pupil. The reason for using this eye, is because it is in black and white and the eye itself is in colour which is very captivating.
Test Trailer 4:
I am quite excited about this idea, where the words Eye Spy move towards the pupil in the previous one, this is still the case, but the eye ripples as the words appear to hit the eye.
Test Trailer 5:
Additional sound on ripple! Note: You need decent speakers to hear this.
I am even more excited about this idea, the sound gives it much more impact! I was searching for impact and thud sounds for an hour before I found this! I now feel like an expert in different kinds of impact sounds.
And now with 'Massive Attack - Teardrop' - which appears on the part the opposite of a teardrop!
This made my hairs stand up when I watched this - I think the song works well with the clip, and its ironic the song is called Teardrop when my idea is centred around an eye. It also happens to be one of my favourite songs of all time.

Test Compositions 2
Here I have used an opacity fade e.g. First image opacity 100% to 0% while the next image fades in from 0% to 100%, over the fast and last images, and a preset called Bad TV over the first and last images, these together give the impression of it being an actual film.
I have now used the opacity fade over all the images.
After speaking to Lorraine, she suggested not to use the opacity change, as it is too smooth, CCTV should be quite erratic.
I have shortened the sequence so it moves faster.
I found a really good static sound, that isn't too much but it just buzzes in the background to give the motion a bit of authenticity.
Test Compositions
This does not look like CCTV footage - it needs much more work. I edited the hue and adjusted the wave speed once from Bad Tv preset.
This looks a little bit more like CCTV, I adjusted the wave speed at 3 places to give a more distorted effect. The animation seems quite hesitant, even though I made 5 adjustments of wave speed. This looks less like CCTV than the previous one.
This works better, I changed the existing adjustments of wave speed, the clip now fades in from 0% opacity to 100%.
The only thing I have adjusted here is the noise - I have increased it to make the image more bitty.
