Mission
- To provide a music channel featuring the not so commonly played genres; Drum and Bass, Downtempo and Dubstep.
- A channel not afraid to try anything new, this includes promoting the emergence of subgenres, for example Funkstep, a cross between Funk/Dance and Dubstep, currently very underground.
Target Audience
- 16-34 year olds (probably with a slight male bias - going from personal experience of the ratio of females to males that listen to Dubstep).
- Possible party animals - this music is not for the light hearted!
Tone
- A fun, vibrant channel, perfect to watch alone or play as background music.
Competition
- This is the niche in the market, so currently there is no competition.
Plan
- Non-stop music videos from the Dubstep, Downtempo and Drum and Bass genre, and the genres that emerge in between.
- A Friday and Saturday night special with the chance for viewers to vote for their favourite getting ready for the weekend tunes.
- A chill out Sunday full of Downtempo music for those wishing to relax after a heavy weekend.
Visual Approach
- Not the typical imagery for Drum and Bass and Dubstep as the genres can be seen to attract anti-social types, so the visual will be far from the 'norm' - this will be informed by research on my Design Context blog.
- A fresh approach enhancing the digitally produced music.
