Silent Movie... Evaluation

This was a great project to work on and a really good way of introducing After Effects. I never thought I was capable of doing motion graphics, which is just my lack in confidence, but with the tutorials from Mike I built a basic understanding of After Effects and what it's for. Before the start of this brief After Effects was like another planet to me, I didn't know very much about video formats (PAL/NTSC) or the title/action safe zones.

I think my final pieces communicate the words successfully, however I think my low confidence shows, as my ideas aren't very exciting, not that they need to be. My first piece for Zoom was created in the last few days of the project, when I decided to be brave and create a Photoshop asset, and import it to After Effects. I wish I had done this with my other ideas!

I found it hard to animate the ideas for Dissolve in After Effects without using effects, I think with more knowledge and confidence I could have produced something more innovative.

I couldn't help but hear sounds in my head when animating the words, so I am really looking forward to creating some more complex animations in my next project.
When researching for examples of kinetic typography I was quite amazed at what could be done using After Effects, and made me all the more eager to use it and learn more.
